The PS5 and Xbox Series X are available to Walmart Plus subscribers today

In case you hadn’t noticed, getting your hands on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X is becoming less and less of a maddening exercise. Admittedly, it’s still harder than it should be, but recent retailer restocks have taken longer to sell out than they used to. So, here we hope you can buy the console you want during today’s restock at Walmart, which is specific to paying Walmart Plus subscribers.

Starting today, Jan. 13 at 3:00 PM ET / 12:00 PM PT, Walmart is offering the $499.99 PS5 with a disc drive, the $399.99 PS5 console that can only play digital titles, just like the $499.99 Xbox Series X. These consoles are available to Walmart Plus members with no trial version, which means you actually have to sign up to pay Walmart for the service to access it (Here you can sign up for Walmart Plus). However, Walmart calls these “early access” deals, perhaps suggesting that they will open to non-Plus customers over time. In the past, the exclusivity window was three hours.

To make the checkout process easier, make sure you have your shipping and payment details ready ahead of time.

PlayStation 5 Digital Edition

The PS5 Digital Edition costs $400. Compared to the standard PS5, this console is $100 less and does not include a Blu-ray disc drive.

Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X is Microsoft’s flagship console and serves as its most powerful (and largest) option. While the Series S focuses on smooth 1440p performance and takes a disc-less approach, the $500 Series X focuses on fast-paced 4K gameplay.

Some essentials for PS5 owners

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

The latest adventure from Insomniac Games in the Ratchet & Clank series is the funniest entry yet. It’s also the first to launch on PS5, and it’s a showcase for stunning graphics as well as fast loading speeds.

Midnight Black DualSense Controller

The midnight black DualSense controller has the same hardware as the original – haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, etc. – just with a two-tone black design reminiscent of PS2, PS3 and PS4 consoles.

You may never have to pay full price for a game for your new console. Whether you want to pay full price or just need some ideas on what to play, check out the best Xbox games of 2021.

Xbox Wireless Headset

Don’t miss a call while gaming with the Xbox Wireless Headset from Microsoft currently on sale for $96.99 instead of $99.99 at Target. In our review, we found it to be a comfortable, intuitively designed headset that is well worth the price. In addition to working well with Xbox consoles, it can connect to another device via Bluetooth at the same time.

Update January 13, 12:09 PM ET: We’ve updated several prices in the product cards, as well as the language in the post to reflect the timing of the event.
